my fave clothing style: japanese traditional clothes part2

5.The jūnihitoe (十二単衣 juunihitoe) is an extremely elegant and highly complex kimono that was only worn by court-ladies in Japan. Literally translated it means "twelve-layer robe".The jūnihitoe started to appear around the 10th century during the Heian Era. The various layers are silk garments. The innermost garment is made of white silk, followed by other layers which have various names, which are finally closed off by a final layer or coat. The total weight could add up to 20 kilograms. The colours and the arrangements of the layers are very important. The colours have poetic names, such as "crimson plum of the spring". The only place where the layers are discernible is around the sleeves and the neck. The arrangements of the layers and their colours were a good indication to any outsider what taste and what rank the lady had. Apart from their robes, Japanese court ladies also wore their hair very long, only cut at the sides of their faces in a layered fashion; the longer hair was sometimes worn tied back.click here for more

6.The kimono (着物) is a Japanese traditional garment worn by women, men and children. The word "kimono", which literally means a "thing to wear" (ki "wear" and mono "thing"), has come to denote these full-length robes. The standard plural of the word kimono in English is kimonos, but the unmarked Japanese plural kimono is also sometimes used.Kimonos are T-shaped, straight-lined robes worn so that the hem falls to the ankle, with attached collars and long, wide sleeves. Kimonos are wrapped around the body, always with the left side over the right (except when dressing the dead for burial), and secured by a sash called an obi, which is tied at the back. Kimonos are generally worn with traditional footwear (especially zōri or geta) and split-toe socks (tabi). click here for more

7.
Obi (帯, おび , literally "sash") is a sash for traditional Japanese dress, keikogi worn for Japanese martial arts, and a part of kimono outfits.

The obi for men's kimono is rather narrow, 10 centimetres (3.9 in) wide at most, but a woman's formal obi can be 30 centimetres (12 in) wide and more than 4 metres (13 ft) long. Nowadays, a woman's wide and decorative obi does not keep the kimono closed: this is done by different undersashes and ribbons worn underneath the obi. The obi itself also requires the use of stiffeners and ribbons.click here for more

8.Samue (作務衣 samue) is the work clothing of a Japanese Zen monk.

Made from cotton or linen and traditionally dyed brown or indigo to distinguish them from formal vestments, samue are worn by monks performing labour duty such as temple maintenance and field work. In modern times they have become popular as general casual or work wear. Shakuhachi players today, because of the instrument's historical association with Zen Buddhism, sometimes wear samue.(no pic attached for this).

i have seen many times how japanese mangaka using their traditional costumes on their manga/comic.although some of them may have modified the original design, and some of them stick to it.bleach, inuyasha and rurouni kenshin are some of the samples.

here are the common traditional clothes :
1.A furisode (振袖?, lit. swinging sleeves) is a style of kimono distinguishable by its long sleeves, which average between 39 and 42 inches in length. It is the most formal style of kimono worn by unmarried women in Japan.click here for more

2.Hakama (?) are a type of traditional Japanese clothing. They were originally worn only by men, but today they are worn by both men and women. Hakama are tied at the waist and fall approximately to the ankles. Hakama are worn over a kimono (hakamashita).click here for more

3.Happi (法被, 半被) is a traditional Japanese straight-sleeved coat usually made of indigo or brown cotton and imprinted with a distinctive mon (crest). Originally, these represented the crest of a family, as happi were worn by house servants. Later, happi commonly began to display the crests of shops and organisations. Also, formerly, firefighters wore happi and the symbol on their backs referred to the group with which they were associated. In the Edo period, firefighters were paid not for actual firefighting activity but instead for promptness and presence at the scene of a fire. Thus, wearing conspicuous happi and dancing on intact roofs near fires with matoi was essential for them. In English, "happi" is most often translated as "happi coat" or "happy coat".

4.A jinbei (甚平; also jimbei; alternative spelling 甚兵衛), sometimes referred to as hippari, is a kind of traditional Japanese clothing worn by men, women, boys, girls, and even babies during the summer. Women's Jinbei started to become popular in recent years.click here for more

all photos is arranged by the number of the name.this is only part 1,there are 2 more to go.

comment : i admire japanese people in how they express their love of their culture and made it famous throughout the whole world even just by manga/comic.

Diana, Princess of Wales, (Diana Frances;[N 1] née Spencer; 1 July 1961 – 31 August 1997) was the first wife of Charles, Prince of Wales. Their sons, Princes William and Harry[1], are second and third in line to the thrones of the United Kingdom and fifteen other Commonwealth Realms.

A public figure from the announcement of her engagement to Prince Charles, Diana remained the focus of near-constant media scrutiny in the United Kingdom and around the world before, during and after her marriage, even in the years following her sudden death in a car crash, which was followed by a spontaneous and prolonged show of public mourning. Contemporary responses to Diana's life and legacy were mixed but a popular fascination with the Princess endures. The long-awaited Coroner's Inquest concluded in April 2008 that Diana had been unlawfully killed by the negligent driving of the following vehicles and the driver of the Mercedes in which she was travelling. click here for more

fashion legend :7.elsa schiaparelli

Elsa Schiaparelli (10 September 189013 November 1973) was an Italian fashion designer. Along with Coco Chanel, she is regarded as one of the most prominent figures in fashion between the two World Wars.[1] Starting with knitwear, Schiaparelli's designs were heavily influenced by Surrealists like her collaborators Salvador Dalí and Alberto Giacometti. Her clients included the heiress Daisy Fellowes and actress Mae West.

Schiaparelli did not adapt to the changes in fashion following World War II and her business closed in 1954.

In Paris, Schiaparelli - known as "Schiap" to her friends - began making her own clothes. With some encouragement from Paul Poiret, she started her own business but it closed in 1926 despite favourable reviews.[2] She launched a new collection of knitwear in early 1927 using a special double layered stitch created by Armenian refugees[2] and featuring sweaters with surrealist trompe l'oeil images. Although her first designs appeared in Vogue, the business really took off with a pattern that gave the impression of a scarf wrapped around the wearer's neck.[2] The "pour le Sport" collection expanded the following year to include bathing suits, skiwear and linen dresses. The divided skirt, a forerunner of shorts, shocked the tennis world when worn by Lili de Alvarez at the Wimbledon Championships in 1931.[2] She added evening wear to the collection in 1931, and the business went from strength to strength, culminating in a move from Rue de la Paix to the Schiap Shop in the Place Vendôme.[2]

A darker tone was set when France declared war on Germany in 1939; Schiaparelli's Spring 1940 collection featured "trench" brown and camouflage print taffetas.[2] Soon after the fall of Paris on 14 June 1940, Schiaparelli sailed to New York for a lecture tour; apart from a few months in Paris in early 1941, she remained in New York until the end of the war.[2] On her return she found that fashions had changed, with Christian Dior's New Look marking a rejection of pre-war fashion. The house of Schiaparelli struggled in the austerity of the post-war period, and Elsa finally closed it down in December 1954,[2] the same year that her great rival Chanel returned to the business. Aged 64, she wrote her autobiography and then lived out a comfortable retirement between her apartment in Paris and house in Tunisia. She died on 13 November 1973.click here for complete info

my life in fashion : 11.envious mind

it has been quite a long time,a few weeks exactly, that i had this thoughts.the thoughts to reform and change everything i did so far in my life especially my work.its not that i declined or refused to admit the big deal of participation from my superior in the office, but somehow i am thinking to move forward a little bit more.

for the past 12 years i've been working in this field,i've gained a lot of unwritten knowledge and experiences for someday building my long time dream, and that's when i have the guts to do it. in the beginning i was thinking that i would still preparing for sometimes, but unfortunately i can't.something big has changed my mind recently, and i've decided inside to take that step faster that what i've planned before.

im so envious towards my ex-work colleagues who succeeded in achieving their goal and stand in their own feet without sweating another ideas under the pressure of those who hired them.they have become the leader and living what they've dreamed of.i wish i would be just as good as them or even better and gain more appreciation in expressing my own ideas.i would really love to test how far i would go.Please Dear God wish me luck and shower me with Your greatest blessings.Amiin
